As part of a larger set of events commemorating the 400th anniversary of the First Folio, in 2023 the Folger partnered with DC Public Library and Game Genius to create a city-wide scavenger hunt.
On this project, I collaborated with the Folger’s Exhibitions team and Game Genius to set the scavenger hunt dynamics (focussing on collaborative, rather than competitive, gameplay mechanics, and reaching into all nine DC wards). I then designed and built the online gameboard, where players created their accounts, generated their Shakespearean-themed character names, consulted the map for starting locations and community progress updates, gathered hints, registered their finds, received badges and accolades, and watched their characters rise on the leaderboard.
